The common definition of the word "hype" is to promote or publicize a product or idea in an intense way. Of course, that means the exaggeration of importance. And if you want a real-life definition, just go to any modern auto show, where every new reveal is the paradigm of perfection.

This year's Detroit event, officially known as the North American International Auto Show, was no different. In fact, after a few years of being stuck in the doldrums, most industry observers agree that the 2013 edition is one of the more interesting and relevant shows in a few years. But of course, we here at MSN Autos Canada don't typically fall for any automaker's car-show hype, and here are nine examples.
