Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin: it was originally called Bamford & Martin Ltd. The name Aston Martin was adopted in 1914 following a run by Martin up Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire. The first Aston Martin, called Coal Scuttle, was built in 1915.
