After having a few too many in the early morning of Oct. 8, a suburban Detroit father did the responsible thing: he handed the keys to someone else. Unfortunately for Shawn Weimer, 39, that someone else was his nine-year-old daughter, who was pulled over later by cops.
Ah, the ol' "get wasted and have your little girl drive you home" trick. Gets ya every time. Indeed, in some weird world, Weimer's strategy might well be considered responsible, but police are thinking differently, having slapped the father with a charge of felony child abuse.
