What car brands do drivers favour most?

Car commercials will claim just about anything these days. If it's not Denis Leary lecturing about Ford's preeminent fuel economy, it's Ferris Bueller, back from 1986 to detail the virtues of driving a CR-V.
For all the dollars ad men put toward promoting cars, there is still that unfortunate little bottom line: what drivers actually believe. Watchdogs Consumer Reports recently polled nearly 4,000 motorists and asked what car brands they thought were best over seven different categories. Here are the auto makers consumers perceive as the best option for safety, quality, value, performance, environmental friendliness, design and innovation.
