Auto Racing: Franchitti, Judd split after 11-year marriage
Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti of Scotland and US actress Ashley Judd have announced they are divorcing after 11 years of marriage.
"We have mutually decided to end our marriage," the couple said in a statement released to People magazine.
"We will always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity and respect we have always enjoyed."
The two were married during a private ceremony in December of 2001 in Scotland.
Their breakup is the second this month for an American racer. Former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, now racing US stock cars, filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Paul Hospenthal.
Franchitti, 39, has won the IndyCar season title four times and is the reigning Indy 500 champion.
Judd, 44, has starred in more than 25 films and most recently appeared to US audiences in the ABC television series "Missing."
