Nearly a million visit Frankfurt Motor Show: organisers
The Frankfurt Motor Show, one of the biggest events in the auto industry calendar, closed its doors Sunday having welcomed 928,000 visitors -- 10 percent more than last year, organisers said.
"This influx of visitors shows that many people retain a fascination for the automobile," Matthias Wissmann, president of the VDA German automobile confederation said in a statement on closing day.
The show opened in the German financial capital on September 17 with about 1,000 exhibitors from 32 countries sharing a 235,000-square-metre (281,000-square-yard) showroom with a record number of electric and hybrid cars on show.
About 800,000 visitors had been expected.
