You can't do an overview of Barris's career without mentioning his most famous creation: the Batmobile. Designed for the 1966 TV series Batman, it was based on the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept, which was valued at US$250,000 at the time. The Batmobile included a number of gadgets hidden under the entirely hand-made body. Though it may be hard to believe, it was completed in only three weeks.
