The French have great hopes for the new Hybrid Air compressed air system: Peugeot and Citroen have taken out 80 patents, along with their technical partners Bosch and Faurecia.

It won’t be a breeze to bring this complicated tech to market without hitches, but if they get it right they could leapfrog the mainly Japanese and German competition who currently dominate the petrol-electric hybrid scene.
