All the in-action footage of the McLaren P1 prototype shows the huge rear spoiler fully raised. This confirms how vital it is to the driving dynamics of McLaren’s new supercar. The firm has already confirmed it can move up to 300 mm rearwards on track, while the pitch can be altered by up to 29 degrees. This helps generate more than 600 kg of rear downforce, a stunning amount that McLaren says is achieved well below its ultimate top speed. Special brakes from Akenbono and bespoke Pirelli tyres help it slow and stick to the road too.
