Created in the early '70s to help celebrate Alberta's centennial celebration, the community of Vegreville decided to create a Pysanka, the traditional Ukrainian Easter egg. The 2,000 pound aluminum skin is wrapped around a 3,000 pound internal structure. The whole thing rests on an enormous concrete and steel base and also acts as a weathervane.
