The smallest shall be the most popular. Yamaha's BW50 has ruled the scooter roost for many years, primarily because its combination of low price, relatively high performance and build quality established a bang-for-buck reputation. But even strong sales couldn't change the fact that the BWs days were numbered, mainly because it was powered by an environmentally unfriendly air-cooled two-stroke engine (you know, the ones that go ring-a-ding-ding and burn oil like a tramp steamer). For 2012 comes an all-new BW50, powered by a three-valve, 49-cc four-stroke with fuel injection. And, just to make sure it retains its popularity, Yamaha Canada is listing the all-new model for just $3,079, a reduction of $170 over the previous model.
